The December meeting of the Brazos Valley Woodturners was called to order by Janice Levi,President, at 10:00

2010 dues will be need to be paid in January. Chapter dues are $20.00 and AAW dues are $48.00.

There will be a too and Sharpening class next weekend. Those that have signed up, it will be held at Bill Meadors.

Janice brought the extension cords and hat that was let at her place. Please claim. Ed Jarvis donated his extension cords to the club. Thanks Ed.

The grant from AAW to purchase a Nova midsize lathe and chuck,Nova 1624 and super Nova 2 chuck, was discussed . Janice will send in the application for lathe to be used by the club and TSTC.

Ed Jarvis showed the club a light that works well with lathes.

Matthew Hill will be doing a demo at our next meeting and after the meeting he will do a demo for anyone that wishes to attend for $15.00 each, Please ask other clubs.

Places to display our turnings was discussed but we don’t have anything definite yet.

Bill Meador will be taking some trees down soon, if interested let him know. Ken Mays still has Pecan and Hackberry, you cut and haul.

A motion was made By Joel and seconded by Tom Dean to accept money from members to purchase a lathe. After a discussion the motion was passed. Tom Dean will check and see what kind of deal we can get.

The Bill Meador award was presented this year to James Norton for everything he has done to promote woodturning in our area .

Ken Mays won the door prize for December. We had our ornament exchange, there were many beautiful examples of turning. Lunch was served and we all had a great visit and lots of good eats.
