Presidential Notes: Fall in really coming at us fast and there are all sorts of things going on in the next couple of months. But, before we look to the future, let’s take a moment to say a big “Thank You” to TSTC and Mike Hubbard for letting us meet in their facility. We also want to thank Maynard Miller for making all of the initial contacts to make this happen.
Now for that fall agenda: Our September meeting will feature Bill Meador who will be getting us ready for Christmas by demonstrating how to make balls and other toys. The October meeting will be held at Lovely Lake Limestone in my barn and we will have our all day Retreat with four hands-on classes and several demonstrations. Please see our website for more specific information.
The very next week-end we’ll be traveling to Wichita Falls for our Southwest Association of Turners Symposium. I am very proud to be among those who will be demonstrating. Thank you, Johnny Farmer and James Norton for helping out with the hosting and AVing in one of the demonstration rooms.
Finally, on November 6 and 7, we will be demonstrating and selling our goods at the Appletree Show in Waco at the Heart of Texas Coliseum. We have a good list of folks who want to help out and that includes Joel, Bill, James, Jan and Tom, Charlie, Janice, and Ed. If you want to attend and I have left your name off the list, let me know. We have three great volunteers who will be coordinating the effort—Charlie, Joel, and James N.
The September President’s Challenge is going to be to turn something that has antlers, antennae, or other unusual projections or protrusions. That really leaves the whole affair wide open, so use your imaginations and get to turning!
