SAFETY MINUTE--Clean area around the lathe, boxes, tools etc. Sand the top of the tool rest for ease of moving the turning tools, use a small piece of wax paper to rub the lathe bed for ease of moving the banjo. Move the tail stock to the rear and lock, if not in use. Remove the live center to prevent puncturing a hand or arm.

When using a chuck with protrusions wrap a color band or masking tape around the body of the chuck, or anything that will make you aware of spinning metal that can cause injury.

Most important safety factor --two words--- BE CAREFUL
